Photo published in BT Today
The big guy with specs was George Smith Head of division the second person I don't know the third man standing is Peter Fawkes who was the first line manager of Rampart and the bloke in the red hat was me Dave Shear. The reason there were fingers in ears was because we had asked Peter ( Guy) Fawkes to close the exchange with a bang.
Update
I recently showed these photos to my dad, Peter Fawkes (now in his 80s) and he still remembers the day well.
He recalled a few funny stories from his time as level 1 looking after Rampart. . . . one being the day he discovered his engineers had secretly wired a door alarm on the entrance to flash a warning alerting them they had a visitor, apparently their way to make sure they were working whenever my dad popped in. He told me he never let on to them that he found out. Said if they were clever enough to come up with that idea then well done them. Updated 27th June 2020 by Andrew Fawkes
